Semifinalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program

On Wednesday, September 13, officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Audrey and Oliver now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring.

 

In each annual National Merit Scholarship Program, about 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only about 16,000 of them are named Semifinalists. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants from each state.
